Insadong ¡æ The Royal Guard Changing Ceremony(Deoksugung) ¡æ Gyeongbok Palace

Insadong
The street where you can feel traditional Korean culture, Insa-dong is the best place for those who want to experience Korean traditions. Numerous traditional teashops, galleries, antique shops and traditional restaurants are placed along the narrow alley.

The Royal Guard Changing Ceremony(Deoksugung)
Deoksugung Palace has held a guard-changing ceremony since 1996 after thorough historical research by leading historians. The ceremony, which is held in front of the Daehanmun Gate of Deoksugung Palace, is a tradition similar to the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace and offers a rare opportunity to experience royal culture. The royal gate is opened and closed at pre-determined times, and the gatekeepers in charge of guard duty and patrols hold a shift ceremony three times a day.

Gyeongbok Palace
The main residence and palace for many kings and royal families during the Josun Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung is considered to be the most elaborate and grandest of the five palaces built during the Josun Dynasty. The buildings and grounds of this palace are full of treasured artifacts, many of which are placed in meaningful positions. Historical monuments found within the palace including cultural treasures like Gwanghwamun(gate),Gyeonghoiru(pavillion), and the elegantly adorned brick chimneys of Amisan Garden.

Namsangol Hanok Village ¡æ Seoul Tower ¡æ Cheonggye Stream

Namsangol Hanok Village
The Village of Traditional Houses is a folk village located in the middle of the city, more specifically, in the area called Pil-dong, at the foot of the northern part of Namsan. First opened to the public in 1997 after four-years of construction, the Village has five authentic old Korean Hanoks that have been transported from other parts of the country and restored to perfection with traditional gardens,pavilions, ponds. The Village is also available for wedding ceremonies, which take place two or three times a week. Visitors can view and purchase traditional ceramic arts and crafts in the exhibition hall, as well.

Seoul Tower
Seoul Tower, which stands on the Mt. Namsan¡¯s summit, is one of the highest towers(240m) in the world. The panoramic view of Seoul seen from the 2nd and 3rd observation floors and the revolving observation platform on the 5th floor are especially excellent.

Cheonggye Stream
In July 1, 2005, the Cheonggyecheon Restoration Project kicked off under a grand vision of transforming Seoul into an environment-friendly city. With the completion of the twenty-seven month long Project, the clean and pleasant waterway came into the great delight of all Seoul citizens again. There is no doubt that Seoul Metropolitan City was reborn into the world as a leading city bringing nature, culture and history together.
